Glasgow City has a large transportation system which is managed by the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT). It's easy to get to and around the city.

Travel by Air


Glasgow has two international airports -Glasgow International Airport, located 11 km / 7 miles to the west of the University of Glasgow, and Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, which is 35 km / 22 miles south west of the university.

Car Hire and Road Transport


All the main car hire companies are represented in Glasgow as it is a popular launch point for the Scottish Highlands. Car Parking


Students without proper permits cannot park their cars in university property from 07:30 to 17:30 during weekdays. On the other hand, permit holders may park their cars in the Lilybank car park on a 24-hour basis.

Travel by Trains and Rail


The nearest railway station to the University of Glasgow is Patrick, which is a mile to the west of the university. The station has an interchange with bus services and the underground for more convenience. Students may also ride the subway into the university's main underground station in Hillhead. Students, however, may also ride to Kelvinbridge and Kelvinhall stations if it is more convenient for them.

Travel by Buses and Coachl


There are two buses, routes 11 and 44, that pass through the campus and go to the city of Glasgow. Some buses serve other routes which pass through Byres road, Great Western Road, and Dumbarton Road.

Travel by Taxi


There are a host of taxis located in the city. Students can hail a taxi within the city or within the campus.
